It may appear that there is a paradox between detachment and desire, but I agree with you, there is no paradox. To be detached is to have a desire, and then to be in a state of absolute knowing that the Universe will deliver. So there is not nit-picking, worry or misery. You just know. Moreso, you are also very open to pleasant surprises, expecting that the Universe has the ability of bringing to you something you never thought of. For example, you may want a particular job because of the money, however, the Universe might respond by giving you a business idea instead. So even though things may not turn out exactly as you desired, the outcome is even better. So when you are detached you let go of your desire, knowing that the answer is well on its way. You don’t hold on to how things must unfold etc. Instead you relax in a state of bliss and joy, and just know that all is well.

True, there is nothing more empowering than knowing that we can change our circumstances in any given moment. Discovering the power of our thoughts has certainly been life changing for me. I am glad to have discovered this and am very thankful for the classic book, The Science of Getting Rich! Our thoughts create our world and harnessing the power of thought is certainly liberating and amusing especially when you begin to apply it and see things change before your very own eyes.
So yes, we do indeed draw events, experiences, people into our lives through our thinking. Great it is!

Just reading that excerpt feels so empowering.Deepak Chopra is extremely talented and one of the best personal development gurus out there. His writing combines intelligence, spirituality and science in such a consistent way. Most spiritual writings often fail to make intelligent sense, however Deepak's writings are intelligent as well as spiritually profound. He is what the modern world needs.

If only we did not expect things to be difficult, manifestation would be so easy. However, we expect things to be hard, and so they become. Deepak Chopra mentions the Law of Least Effort and how the grass does not try to grow but just grows. I think we have a lot to learn there! We should not try so hard, we should just have great expectations to the point of absolute knowing, and then whatever we seek will just come to us. Remove the worry, dont work out how or when just know that all is well and it will be. When we adopt such a powerful but peaceful mindset, then we can experience timelessness.

What an insightful article. I have had weight problems for quite some time and have not been successful in losing weight. After reading this I understand that my inner child is in conflict and for me to address my weight loss I need to know first what my inner conflict is. It is similiar to having a limiting belief but not knowing what it is.
Cheers,
John Edwards

At the very heart of Moses was simply his relationship with God. His secret was intimacy with God Himself and a breaking off of anything Egyptian in his life. He was the #2 person in Egypt, and through many years in the wilderness he developed a relationship with God.
While I agree that it's great to give and not seek to get only as well as develop a grateful attitude to whatever circumstances we may be in, the fact was that Moses spoke with God as 'a man speaks to his Friend'. Unfortunately, there are some Christians who look and act like they've been baptized in lemon juice and their attitude reflects it.
There was a relationship there, which was and still is several clicks before the 'attraction' blessings happen.
The real power of the divine belonged to and still belongs to the Divine... God, revealed through His Only Son, Jesus Christ. And, if there is something divine working in me, it's God, I'm just cooperating, hopefully.
Thx.

Terrific article. I think you are spot on. I have always had difficulty relating to my son but have put into action the visualisation technique that you have been discussing. I now visualise having a great relationship with him instead of anticipating trouble. It has worked a treat. Try visiting www.loa-makeover.com for some simple action steps.

I think every parent face a situation from time to time that they can't cope with a child's behavior. It is at a time like that we have to face ourselves and act on changes in ourselves as you mention in your writing. If we lead by good examples it will pay. Children learn from us or from their surroundings. They teach us a lot because they are honest and they are kind until we teach them otherwise.
I once said to my children when they were teenagers that we should think about how everything we do in life will be brought back on us and if we are to face again what we give away, then it would probably be best to be kind. Not that they needed advice on that - maybe I needed it more :)
My point is that I feel that we should remind us of how we behave ourselves and focus on positive things.
When I watch my two children today, all grown up and having families on their own, I feel proud and grateful. I often think what good people they are and how well they are doing. I also know how much they have taught me, and still are...
Now I can also look forward to learning from my grandchildren.

Thank you for your most inspirational writings.
God bless.

Great post and a very good, thought provoking statement.

There are times, when as I watch our daughter grow and
face the challenges in her life, that I should

"be the change in myself that I see in her."

Living in the Now and having Fun are just two of the things I see
in her every day. This is something we all should do.

I watch her show caring, giving, and kindness to everyone.
Even those who do wrong by or to her. I see her mentally
work though the anguish of middle school and all it's peer
pressure, cliques and challenges. I see her work through it while
maintaining her self respect, confidence and pure compassion
for others. I see her come to us when she has difficulty, and at
other times I have her tell me thank you but she "can handle it."

I see her give to others so much and not expect anything in
return. Sometimes this is so much at her own expense that I
want to encourage her to stop. Yet I don't because of her strong
belief and will to do it.

Although the level of challenges we face as children and adults change,
the reality of the impact our emotions, beliefs and actions have on
our life does not. We can learn what we need to change from from
    others, especially our children.

I am thankful everyday for our daughter, who is one of my biggest
    teachers.
