I think every parent face a situation from time to time that they can't cope with a child's behavior. It is at a time like that we have to face ourselves and act on changes in ourselves as you mention in your writing. If we lead by good examples it will pay. Children learn from us or from their surroundings. They teach us a lot because they are honest and they are kind until we teach them otherwise.
I once said to my children when they were teenagers that we should think about how everything we do in life will be brought back on us and if we are to face again what we give away, then it would probably be best to be kind. Not that they needed advice on that - maybe I needed it more :)
My point is that I feel that we should remind us of how we behave ourselves and focus on positive things.
When I watch my two children today, all grown up and having families on their own, I feel proud and grateful. I often think what good people they are and how well they are doing. I also know how much they have taught me, and still are...
Now I can also look forward to learning from my grandchildren.

Thank you for your most inspirational writings.
God bless.

Great post and a very good, thought provoking statement.

There are times, when as I watch our daughter grow and
face the challenges in her life, that I should

"be the change in myself that I see in her."

Living in the Now and having Fun are just two of the things I see
in her every day. This is something we all should do.

I watch her show caring, giving, and kindness to everyone.
Even those who do wrong by or to her. I see her mentally
work though the anguish of middle school and all it's peer
pressure, cliques and challenges. I see her work through it while
maintaining her self respect, confidence and pure compassion
for others. I see her come to us when she has difficulty, and at
other times I have her tell me thank you but she "can handle it."

I see her give to others so much and not expect anything in
return. Sometimes this is so much at her own expense that I
want to encourage her to stop. Yet I don't because of her strong
belief and will to do it.

Although the level of challenges we face as children and adults change,
the reality of the impact our emotions, beliefs and actions have on
our life does not. We can learn what we need to change from from
others, especially our children.

I am thankful everyday for our daughter, who is one of my biggest
teachers.
